The residential community is located in Cannonvale immediately inland from the Airlie Beach resort town. The biggest retail centre for the area is Whitsunday Plaza with the only news agent in the area located in the high traffic area of this centre. News Whitsunday commenced retail operations when the centre opened in 2006 and has been there ever since. This business weathered the GFC as well as the best small business and recovered after 10 years and has now survived the latest retail threat of the covid pandemic.
