The business for sale is a contract with Fire Equipment Services (FES), which involves servicing fire safety equipment such as extinguishers, hydrants, hose reels, emergency lights, and compliance testing for clients under Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV).

The current owner is selling the contract (called a ‘Cluster’) with FES due to retirement after 20 years of operation. FES contracts are not franchises. They are tightly held contracts that can only be sold when the current contractor wishes to exit.

   -  Work is downloaded to the contractor’s hand-held PDA / Computer at the start of each month

   -  This includes all client details and equipment due for service in that month

   -  Completing and organising the month’s work is left to the contractor to organise

   -  FES requires the contractor to be registered as a company

The new contractor for this business will be interviewed by FES operations staff and, if accepted, must sit and pass an online aptitude test. Training is then provided by FPA (Fire Protection Association) and paid for by FES.
